Donna has been providing us with her unique perspective on how to ensure the safety of our interviewers at conferences for some time. We have now asked her to join our team because of the unique understanding of mental wellness she learned through her career and personal life experiences.
Donna’s career in law enforcement was as an officer in New York, New Hampshire and Florida, where she earned certification as a firearms instructor. She is very proud to have been selected to work in the first private police force for the Olympic Games and with President Reagan’s body guard team during his first term. She also served a tour of duty with the U.S. Army’s Military Intelligence Branch. After discharge she worked for the Federal Aviation Administration in Miami as a Detective, Internal Investigator. She was called back to active duty after 9/11 and had assignments in both Desert Storm and in-country Iraq, reaching the rank of Captain. A full resume of her career in this field includes work as a Federal Computer Crimes Investigator, a Special Agent and more than fifteen years in military intelligence.

Last week, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced its first HIPAA settlement of 2017 with Presence Health for $475,000.This is the first fine in the history of HIPAA enforcement levied for a failure to notify over 800 patients of a breach of unsecured protected health information (PHI) in accordance with the standards of the HIPAA Breach Notification Rule. PHI includes any health data containing identifiable information like dates of birth, names, addresses, etc.

Earlier this year, Dr. Ross Ellenhorn purchased the company from his business partner, Dr. Madhavi Prakash, on very good terms. Since then, our team has been spending time thinking about a new name, and decided on Ellenhorn. Prakash Ellenhorn is widely recognized and held in high regard within the mental health community and with many business partners – and we did not want to lose the name recognition entirely.
With the launch of our new name comes a significant branding transformation. We have a fresh new look that emphasizes our philosophy at Ellenhorn: rebuilding purposeful lives through compassionate care. Having spent years in Arlington, getting to know the specific historical culture of our town, we have also decided to revisit our residence’s old roots and re-name it “The Brackett House,” as this better represents the house itself.
