The Institute for Human-Animal Connection (IHAC) is a center for the study of the interrelationship and health of people, animals and the environment. Phillip joins us to talk about the institute, their upcoming conference (we’ll be doing live broadcasts with some of their presenters such as Temple Grandin, Aubrey Fine, and Richard Louv) in May of 2016.

What is the Institute for Human-Animal Connection at the University of Denver, Graduate School of Social Work?
Clinical Professor Philip Tedeschi is the Executive Director of the Institute for Human-Animal Connection at the University of Denver within the Graduate School of Social Work. He has been with the University of Denver for 20 years and is the founder and coordinator of the Animal-Assisted Social Work Program for Master of Social Work (MSW) students, as well as the Animals and Human Health Professional Development Certificate Program. He is recognized worldwide for his expertise in clinical methods for Animal-Assisted Interventions, and received his MSSW degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he specialized in the bio-affiliative connection between people and animals. Philip’s research, scholarship, presentations, training, and community practice work have focused on human-animal interaction, conservation, human ecology, international and environmental social work.
Philip serves on numerous national organization board of directors, including The Delta Pet Partners National Board, The Green Chimneys Institute Board of Advisors, The Center for Animal Human Relationships at Virginia College of Veterinary Medicine, Affiliate Faculty at Washington State University Veterinary Human-Animal Interaction Program, The Horses and Humans Research Foundation, The African Network for Animal Welfare, and The National Link Coalition among others.
