Session One: Treatment Goal Setting

Overview: The interactive webinar will introduce a three prong evaluation model for mental health service organizations. We will discuss the core elements of successful evaluation programs and focus on the development of effective and efficient treatment goal setting as the first prong of the model. The presenter will discuss how to balance client centered goal setting with the need for consistency and rigor in establishing measurable goals.

Presenters’ Information

christopherallersDr. Chris Allers, PhD is Executive Vice President and Senior Consultant of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits and Partner with Advantage Consulting, LLC. He received his Doctorate in Counseling (Georgia State University, 1993) and has excelled as a nonprofit professional for more than 25 years. He has performed a variety of roles in the nonprofit sector including clinician, executive director, “funder” and researcher.  He was a psychotherapist with Nami Associates (Atlanta) between 1989 and 1995.

Chris has a distinguished professional record in nonprofit management including delivery of training and consulting in the areas of executive coaching and leadership development, organizational/board development, program measurement and evaluation, results-based accountability/strategic planning, data management and technology systems, and organizational change management. He also has deep subject matter expertise in mental health/substance abuse and co-occurring disorder assessment and treatment, HIV/AIDS service delivery, trauma-informed care, and K-12 education. He is the author of more than 15 published research articles in peer reviewed mental health journals.

Chris served as the Executive Vice President at United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta from 2003-09 He is the founder of Positive Impact, Inc. (the nation’s first HIV mental health services institute), founding Board President of Pathways Community Network (Georgia’s statewide homeless management information system) and founding Executive Director of Crossroads Community Ministries.

koKhurram (Ko) Hassan, MPH is the managing partner for Advantage Consulting, LLC.  He received his Masters in Public Health (1992, Emory Rollins School of Public Health), and he has worked in public health/nonprofit sectors for over 20 years.  He has been a public health educator, state level public health adviser, evaluation trainer, and funding strategy designer.  

During his time at Grady Health System’s Pediatric/Adolescent Infectious Disease Program, he was recognized for developing engaging and effective teen HIV peer education strategies.  At the United Way of Metro Atlanta, he managed the outcome measurement training of over 400 community programs.  At the United Way he also provided leadership in addressing health/mental health/disability needs as well as taking additional roles in implementing new homelessness and Katrina initiatives.  He has subject knowledge on HIV prevention, community organizing/planning, consumer advisory boards, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, and older adults.  

His firm has provided evaluation, research, strategic planning, facilitation, and program design services for nonprofit organizations since 2008. Mr. Hassan is a member of the Atlanta area Evaluation Association (AaEA) as well as the American Evaluation Association (AEA).

kristin-06f2cdfd87Kristin Walker is the Founder and CEO of everythingEHR. She has been working within the health care field for more than two decades, and has been an invaluable contact for the Samaritan Network. Her consultative practice was an eye-opening experience; what she learned has helped hundreds of providers and organizations choose software that leads the behavioral health EHR industry. Kristin is sought out by investment firms looking to fund behavioral health EHRs, EHR vendors that service behavioral health providers, ancillary product vendors that also service mental health, and, her great passion, by behavioral health providers and organizations looking to make the right choices when it comes to technology.
